We just finished watching President Barack Obama become President Barack Obama. With hope, tears, cheers, and pride we welcomed this historic moment. We look forward...with hope. Finally.
You know what I love most about this? I grew up a white kid in the South, and my earliest memories of politics were reading about Reagan and Skylab in the Weekly Reader in kindergarten. The thing that makes me smile every time I think about it is that Eli will grow up a white kid too, but he'll read about President Obama in his Weekly Reader, and he'll know from the start about equality. It'll never occur to him that his black classmates couldn't be president. I love that.
I was home with a sickie yesterday too! and I took his picture in front of Obama taking the oath for my blog too! I just couldn't get him to smile in the photo cause he felt like crap, boo hoo.
